Les Voiles Blanches is a solidarity association collecting toys for hospitalised children. Its method is singular: no gala or charity evening, but a yacht and a costumed figure — « the White Pirate » — who each summer sails the Mediterranean from port to port to recover chests filled with toys, before handing them to the Fondation Lenval in Nice, whose buildings face the sea.

Note on the name. Press often writes « Les Voiles Blanches – Bettimask ». That is media usage: Bettimask is a Monegasque company partnering the operation, alongside Global IP Solutions, Centre Immobilier Pastor, Yacht Club de Monaco and Lions Club. The name declared to the Minister of State is « Les Voiles Blanches ».

Two dates not to confuse

The operation has run since 2020. The association was declared in 2025: the Minister of State’s receipt was received on 17 November 2025 and published in the Journal de Monaco on 16 January 2026. Memoria records both dates separately — five years of action preceded the legal existence of the structure, and no public source documents who carried the operation during that period.

An original collection mechanism

The operation relies on partner ports between Marseille and Menton. Ports and businesses install chests; the White Pirate collects them during three weeks of sailing. Donations must meet strict rules: new toys, CE standards, original packaging, maximum value €50 — justified by the fragility of hospitalised children. The association applies the same ethical standard to its own materials: playing cards and comics of the White Pirate, whose founder rejects the lowest-cost manufacturing.

In Monaco, collection uses institutional and business sites: Mairie de Monaco, Maison des Associations, Condamine market, Yacht Club de Monaco, both harbours, Monaco Bar and Conscientiae.

The choice of anonymity

The association founder deliberately keeps anonymity: « the White Pirate » is not a publicity stage name but an identity kept secret, including from press interviews. The declaration receipt in the Journal de Monaco mentions no president or board member. Memoria therefore publishes no officer name for this association — not a gap in the record, but respect for a choice.

Why it is archived

An association whose action rests on an annual ritual — departure to sea, chests, docking at Lenval — produces a memory nobody else keeps: past editions fade, figures are forgotten, collection points change, and the association name merges with its sponsor. This record dates them, year by year.
