Yacht Club de Monaco
Principality yacht club, authorised in 1953 as a company, based at quai Louis II — one hub of Monegasque maritime life.
The Yacht Club de Monaco is one of the Principality’s maritime institutions. Its official authorisation act dates from 25 May 1953, when a ministerial decree approved the articles of the « Yacht Club de Monaco » company. It has been at quai Louis II, Port Hercule, since an address published in 2014.
What the record documents — and what it does not claim
Memoria cites the 1953 date as an authorisation act, not as a founding date. The Journal de Monaco publishes authorisations and amendments to articles of association, not birth certificates: confusing the two would be a methodological error, and that is the kind of approximation this guide rejects.
The 1953 decree describes the entity as a « company », while the club now operates as an association under the 2008 law on associations. Legal continuity between the two forms has not been established from an act consulted: the record flags this rather than assuming it.
Why we archive it
The Yacht Club is one of the places where Monaco’s maritime identity is woven: regattas, welcoming crews, ties to the port. Its record follows the same logic as those for Larvotto beach or the Voiles Blanches — documenting what makes Monaco a city of the sea, not only a city on the sea.
