Association des Parents d'Élèves de Monaco
Association founded in 1965, present in all Principality schools, representing parents and sitting on the National Education Committee.
The Association des Parents d’Élèves de Monaco represents parents of pupils in public and private contract schools in the Principality. It is present in each school through section boards, and has sat on the National Education Committee since at least 1996 — a ministerial decree designates its representative.
Sixty years of educational dialogue
Created in February 1965 with about 800 active members, APEM celebrated sixty years in 2025 in the presence of Prince Albert II. Local press then recalled its role: giving families a voice in a Monegasque school system that mixes public and private contract establishments.
Raffaella Olivieri chairs the association. Memoria cites only this function: the board also includes vice-chairs, a treasurer and a general secretary, whose names appear in the press but are not part of management in Memoria’s sense.
Why it is archived
Education is the field where associations have the most influence and the fewest archives. A 1965 decree, a 1996 decree designating a representative, a 2025 anniversary: three milestones documenting sixty years of dialogue between families and the Monegasque school institution.
