Société Protectrice des Animaux et Abri de Monaco
Monegasque animal protection association, whose board of directors is appointed by sovereign decree and placed under the presidency of H.S.H. Princess Charlene.
The Société Protectrice des Animaux et Abri de Monaco is the Monegasque animal protection association — its official name includes the shelter, located in Peille, in the Alpes-Maritimes.
An association governed by sovereign ordinance
This is the singularity of this sheet: the board of directors is not elected and then declared, it is appointed by sovereign order. Ordinance No. 9.978 of July 6, 2023 designates its members and specifies that the council is “placed under the Presidency of HSH Princess Charlene”. Memoria only cites this function of president, as it is published in the act.
The same mechanism is attested from July 7, 1989**, by Ordinance No. 9.521: two appointments spaced thirty-four years apart document the continuity of this regime. This is what an archive allows — to show that an institutional practice spans the decades.
Why we archive it
Animal protection is an area where, in Monaco, private initiative and State action come together. Proving it does not require comment: it is enough to cite the ordinances and their dates.
The facts are paraphrased; only the source is cited. A correction, a missing date? Write to Memoria.
