Comité des Fêtes de la Saint-Roman
Committee in charge of the traditional Saint-Roman festivities, authorised in 1949 and accredited in 2011, which keeps Monegasque popular celebrations alive.
The Comité des Fêtes de la Saint-Roman organises popular celebrations linked to Saint-Roman, one of the Principality’s traditional festivals. Its founding act is dated: the request is filed on 11 June 1949 and ministerial authorisation is published in the Journal de Monaco on 3 October of the same year.
Seventy-five years of administrative continuity
Three acts mark its existence: authorisation in 1949, approval of a bylaws amendment in 1994, then accreditation in 2011 — which, under Monegasque law, is earned after several years of operation and conditions access to public tenders. It is the trace of an association that has never ceased to exist.
Memoria does not publish a registered office or officers for this record: the acts consulted do not mention them, and the association has no identified official website.
Why it is archived
Traditional festivals are the hardest heritage to document: they leave neither building nor document, only dates in an official journal. That the Saint-Roman Committee can be identified in the Journal de Monaco since 1949 is already an archive — and more than most local traditions have.
