Association Sportive Monaco Football Club
Sports association carrying the Monegasque football club, distinct from the company that runs it: authorised in 1992, renamed in 2000, accredited in 2010.
AS Monaco is a textbook case for an archive: two legal entities carry almost the same name. On one side the AS Monaco Football Club SA company, which runs the professional club — statutes amended by ministerial decree in March 2026, and where Memoria records titles, European finals, coaches and the 2002 contribution. On the other, the sports association, authorised in 1992, renamed in 2000, accredited in 2010.
A Monaco Football Association completes the federal landscape. Memoria publishes each legal entity separately; conflating them would be a factual error.
What the record documents
Four official acts mark the association: authorisation in 1992, change of name and purpose in 2000 — fixing the abbreviations « AS Monaco FC » and « ASM FC » — then accreditation in 2010. To these three dates is added the 2026 reminder, when the namesake company amends its statutes.
Memoria does not publish officers for the association: the acts consulted do not name them, and it would be wrong to reuse the company’s directors, who are other people.
Why it is archived
Football is one of the few fields where Monaco speaks to the whole world — and one where legal memory is most confused, because the media never distinguish the association from the company. An archive that states this distinction serves everyone.
The facts are paraphrased; only the source is cited. A correction? Write to Memoria.
