L'Épi d'Or
Bakery-pastry shop in La Condamine, trading since 1957 and Appointed Supplier to the Prince's Palace, whose business was transferred in 2005.
L’Épi d’Or is a bakery-pastry shop on rue Grimaldi, in La Condamine. Local press presents the house as an institution of the district, established since 1957.
What this record documents
Two official acts mark its history. In 2005, the business operated under the name « A L’Epi d’Or » is transferred by gift to the operators’ daughter — a notarial deed published in the Journal de Monaco mentioning two addresses: 6 rue Grimaldi and 2 rue Princesse Caroline. In 2026, a sovereign decision extends the Appointed Supplier to the Prince’s Palace title, attesting a continuing commercial relationship with the Sovereign Household.
The 1957 date comes from local press. Memoria reproduces it as such: no public document consulted confirms it.
Why it is archived
A neighbourhood bakery that has supplied the Palace for decades is exactly what Monaco’s intangible heritage covers: know-how, loyalty, family transmission. The Journal de Monaco keeps the trace — if one knows to look for it.
The facts are paraphrased; only the source is cited. To suggest a correction, write to Memoria.
