Grimaldi Forum Monaco
Congress and culture centre inaugurated in 2000 — 2025 extension (+50% exhibition space) designed within Mareterra by Giraldi and Raymond.
Grimaldi Forum Monaco is the Principality’s congress and culture centre on avenue Princesse Grace facing the sea. Inaugurated under Rainier III in 2000, it hosts summer exhibitions, shows and congresses; the Monte-Carlo Opera has had a second 1,800-seat stage there since 2000.
2000 vessel, Mareterra extension
The official site recalls Rainier III’s aim to position Monaco for business tourism and cultural reach. In 2025, for its 25th anniversary, the building expands within Mareterra: +50% modular space, totalling 41,000 m², with new halls named Pinède, Patio and Diaghilev gallery.
Memoria cross-links this chronology with the Mareterra record: the Forum extension and the Portier cove district advance together.
Why it is archived
A Monegasque public facility reads at two scales: opening date (2000) and extension phases (2025). The Journal de Monaco already attests construction in 1999; the Grimaldi Forum attests princely inauguration and extension — two complementary registers for the same building.
Each archive on this record is dated and linked to a public source. The facts are paraphrased. A correction? Write to Memoria.
