Darty Monaco
A franchised Darty store opened on 29 November 2018 at 4 avenue Albert II in Fontvieille, selling household appliances, computers, TVs, hi-fi equipment and phones, with an after-sales workshop and bedding section.
Darty Monaco is the Principality’s only Darty store. It opened on 29 November 2018 at 4 avenue Albert II in Fontvieille and sells household appliances, computers, cameras, televisions, hi-fi equipment and phones. It also has an after-sales workshop, a photo-printing kiosk and an in-store collection service.
What this record documents
The opening date is supported by a source: the Fnac Darty group press release published on 30 October 2018 announced that the brand’s “160th franchised store” would open on Thursday 29 November at 4/6 avenue Albert II, with a floor area of 550 m². The store’s official page now describes it as a “franchised store, independently owned”. A directory would not distinguish a group-owned shop from a franchise; the archive preserves that distinction because it changes what “Darty in Monaco” means.
Why it is archived
Fontvieille is one of the Principality’s main business districts, and a large technology retailer with a repair workshop—including kitchen, bedding and dressing-room departments—is unusual there. Documenting this address preserves the precise date and status of a national technology retailer’s arrival in Monaco.
