CMB Monaco
Monegasque private bank founded in 1976, subsidiary of the Mediobanca group, which took the name CMB Monaco in 2020 and moved its registered office from avenue de la Costa to avenue des Spélugues.
CMB Monaco — formerly Compagnie Monégasque de Banque — is one of the Principality’s oldest private banks. It is now a subsidiary of the Italian Mediobanca group, which entered the capital in 2002 with 34% before taking full control in 2004.
A name change documented by published accounts
The shift from « Compagnie Monégasque de Banque » to « CMB Monaco » was decided at a general meeting in 2020. Memoria gives the most reliable trace: the last accounts published under the former name are those for 31 December 2020, appearing in the Journal de Monaco in June 2021.
The same mechanism documents the move. The 2022 accounts, published in June 2023, still show 23 avenue de la Costa; those for 2024, published in May 2025, show 17 avenue des Spélugues. The transfer therefore falls between these two publications — Memoria does not claim to date it to the day, but frames it with two official documents.
A methodological note
The CCAF classifies CMB Monaco among authorised credit institutions, but the initial authorisation date is not given on the official list. Memoria therefore does not publish or reconstruct it.
A precision that applies to every banking record in this guide: the CCAF supervises credit institutions for their financial activities; banking operations fall under the French Prudential Supervision and Resolution Authority. Writing « authorised by the CCAF » without this nuance would be inaccurate.
